Formerly an intellectual property lawyer, Jake Hirsch-Allen currently owns and runs Functional Imperative, a Toronto-based digital innovation and software development company and Lighthouse Labs, a Vancouver-based software development bootcamp.
Jake is also a senior manager at Incentives for Global Health, the non-profit proposing the Health Impact Fund, a new means of incentivizing innovative medical technology. In addition, he is Chair of the Technology Working Group of a UN Special Envoy (Gordon Brown) initiative called the Global Education Platform (http://educationenvoy.org/global-education-platform).
Jake has spent much of the past five years working in health technology. This includes having founded Hacking Health, a hackathon that brings doctors together with developers to realize health solutions. Jake consults for the Multiplicity Accelerator and Cobalt Counsel and advises a number of high-tech startups.
Jake's experience in the private and public sectors in Canada and abroad includes clerking for the Supreme Court of Israel, litigating at the international criminal tribunals for the former-Yugoslavia and Cambodia and articling at Gilbert's LLP, an intellectual property litigation boutique.
