The Forum brings together an exciting and diverse group of people committed to improving health outcomes through collective problem solving. Our Director manages the Forum, co-chairs the management group and related sub-committees, and works closely with the Managing Director, who is responsible for the day-to-day management and Forum staff.
The Forum’s strategic direction is overseen by a management group comprising chair Susan Denburg, Associate Vice-President, Academic, Faculty of Health Sciences; co-chair John Lavis, Director, McMaster Health Forum; and Ileana Ciurea, Senior Advisor, Business and Strategic Development. A series of advisors and Forum sub-committees provide advice and support the strategic planning to help ensure we maintain exceptionally high standards for both scientific excellence and societal relevance.
Working with the McMaster Health Forum are leaders in the fields of evidence synthesis, knowledge translation, stakeholder and citizen dialogues, and human communication, among other fields. Our core and affiliated faculty members are some of McMaster's world-renowned faculty.
Our Fellows Program allows McMaster students to study evidence synthesis, deliberations and public engagement, and be exposed to influential doers and thinkers at Forum events and through internships.
The Student Subcommittee oversees student-led initiatives that create opportunities for interaction between the student community and influential thinkers and doers through public lectures, panel discussions and debates on pressing health challenges. These initiatives aim to nurture emerging leaders through skills-based workshops and networking opportunities.
