Student-led Dialogues and Debates

Want to learn about how to spread an effective treatment for malaria or why people with diabetes find it difficult to find support to manage their disease within the current healthcare system? The Forum’s Student-led Dialogues and Debates are a chance to explore these questions in a series of events, with topics selected by our student sub-committee. The campus community and the general public are our audience.

Focused on highly topical health challenges, we draw speakers from other Forum events to present the ideas of influential doers and thinkers to the community. As with all our talks, we encourage speakers to take a broad perspective, and not be restricted by academic discipline. Discussion following the events is always encouraged.

We host both dialogues and debates. Dialogues bring together two ‘great minds’ to explore the issue. Debates pit two ‘great adversaries’ in intellectual battle. For more information, see Promoting discussion: Dialogue versus debate.

Directing these events gives students a chance to explore the issues, interact with leading doers and thinkers, and bring topical health challenges to the public’s attention.
