Faculty-led Dialogues and Debates
Our Faculty-led Dialogue and Debate series addresses scientific issues arising in the scientific study of major health challenges. Bringing great minds to campus to engage in dialogue and debate about these issues, these events are open to the general public and McMaster community. We encourage speakers to take a broad perspective, and not be restricted by academic discipline. Discussion following the events is always encouraged.
Overseen by the Forum's Scientific and Education Sub-committee, individual Dialogues and Debates may take on diverse issues, ranging from "How can we best measure the impacts of the environment on our health?" to "How do we engage the civil society in supporting use of research?" The common thread is posing the big questions about pressing health challenges.
Our Dialogues bring two 'great minds' together to explore the issue. Debates pit two 'great adversaries' in intellectual battle. For more information, see Promoting discussion: Dialogue versus debate
Whenever possible, we will encourage participants in the Faculty-led
series to make the most of their campus visit by meeting with students
and participating in one of these other events.
